Congratulations to Vanessa Brandalesi who obtained her doctorate in social sciences at the University of Lausanne.

On Thursday 9 February 2023, the LIVES Centre held the 12th edition of its Doctoriales: a research day entirely dedicated to the thesis work of doctoral students. They presented the current state of their research and submitted it to the criticism of experts.

On Thursday 15 February 2024, at the University of Geneva during the LIVES Doctoriales, the Centre's 24 doctoral students had the opportunity to present the progress of their thesis project to their peers and interdisciplinary experts.

On Friday 21 April 2023, Jad Moawad publicly defended his thesis at the University of Lausanne and received the degree of Doctor of Social Sciences. The thesis entitled "Social Classes and the Great Recession.

Around 150 researchers had the opportunity to exchange ideas and establish connections on November 9th and 10th, 2023, during the annual international conference of the LIVES Center held at the University of Lausanne.

The LIVES Centre is collaborating with the Collection de l'Art Brut in Lausanne to organise an exhibition bringing together 7 authors of art brut. From 10 June to 27 November 2022, the works of these Swiss artists or artists who have lived in Switzerland will be exhibited in Lausanne.

On 17 and 18 November 2022, the LIVES Centre organised an international conference in Geneva, bringing together some 160 researchers.

On Wednesday 22 June 2022, LIVES invited its members, alumni, partners and friends to celebrate its first 12 years of research. More than 100 people took part in this important event in the beautiful setting of the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.

On 8 June 2023, the Assises des Familles was held, an annual day of conferences and debates on family issues in Geneva.

On 17 April 2024, Prof. Michel Oris gave his farewell lecture at the University of Geneva in front of a packed audience with more than 50 people standing. It was not actually a farewell to research for Michel Oris, as he is joining the Spanish Research Council in Madrid.

At the European Consortium of Sociological Research (ECSR) conference in Barcelona on 12-14 September 2024, two LIVES researchers won prizes for the excellence of their work:

On Friday 3 June 2022, on the occasion of the Dies Academicus of the University of Lausanne, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Nicky Le Feuvre, awarded the title of Doctor honoris causa to prof. Richard A. Settersten (Oregon State University - USA).
