Aart Liefbroer is a professor of life course demography at the University of Groningen and a professor of Demography of Young Adults and Intergenerational Transmission at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. His research circles around changes in demographic behaviour of young adults. He studies leaving home, union formation and dissolution and fertility. He is interested in trends in these demographic behaviours, as well as their cross-national patterns, their determinants and their consequences. He is also committed to data collection, as is signaled by his involvement in the Generations and Gender Programme, the European Social Survey and the Netherlands Kinship Panel Study.
