Professor Mark Bellis is Director of Research and Innovation at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) where he provides strategic and scientific leadership in research and innovation for the Faculty of Health across areas including public health, psychology, nursing and other clinical and non-clinical health areas.
On Tuesday 17 October 2023, Prof. Bellis will give the lecture “Long-term effects of childhood adversity”, as part of IDESO scientific meetings.
He leads the University’s Public Health Institute (PHI) with responsibility for the direction and coordination of the Institute’s, local, national and international work programmes.
As Professor of Public Health and Behaviour Sciences at LJMU, he continues to undertake substantive research and development in the fields of Adverse Childhood Experiences, violence prevention, alcohol, drugs and sexual health.
Prof. Bellis also collaborates with the World Health Organization (WHO) in particular acting as the UK Focal Point to the WHO on violence and injury prevention. He also is a registered Consultant in Public Health in the NHS. In 2009, he was awarded an Order of the British Empire for services to healthcare.
Mark Bellis has published over 240 academic papers and more than 300 applied public health reports and books.
